MJ Kane
MJ is an ACCA and CPFAcct-qualified accountant with 15 years of experience advising individuals and SMEs on both routine and high-complexity tax matters. His background spans forensic accounting, international structuring, cryptocurrency taxation, HMRC investigations and full-spectrum UK tax compliance.
He works with clients who need clarity and control over their tax position—whether that involves HMRC enquiries, multi-year disclosures, or navigating uncertain areas involving offshore assets, crypto portfolios or cross-border income. MJ also provides ongoing monthly and annual support across accounts, VAT, PAYE, corporation tax and self-assessment, helping businesses stay compliant, efficient and well-organised.
His advisory work includes business structuring, valuations, family investment companies and long-term wealth planning for UK taxpayers. MJ has managed highly complex multi-jurisdictional arrangements involving companies and trusts across the UK, Isle of Man, ROI, USA, Cyprus, Gibraltar, Dubai, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. He continues to oversee the tax filings, valuations and strategic direction for these groups on behalf of their key decision-makers. MJ has contributed to multiple platforms, podcasts and publications, offering insights on tax, structuring and compliance.
Jonathon Greenaway
Jonathon brings 15 years of experience in UK and international tax, with a background spanning forensic accounting, international structuring, cryptocurrency taxation and HMRC-facing work. At MJ Kane Accountants, he works closely with SMEs to keep their tax affairs compliant, efficient and commercially aligned.
His core role focuses on ensuring businesses stay on top of their ongoing tax responsibilities. He oversees VAT, PAYE, corporation tax, CIS and self-assessment compliance, helping clients file accurately, avoid penalties and maintain predictable, organised financial systems. SMEs often turn to Jonathon when they’re dealing with messy records, multi-year backlogs, inefficient structures or uncertainty over what they should be paying. He is particularly strong at bringing order to complex situations—cleaning up accounting, identifying exposures, fixing historical issues and putting reliable compliance processes in place. Beyond routine work, Jonathon advises on business structuring, valuations, family investment companies and long-term tax planning. He focuses on options that are both tax-efficient and commercially practical, ensuring clients build frameworks that scale as they grow. His technical experience also includes offshore assets, investment portfolios and cross-border matters, with exposure to multi-entity and trust structures across the UK, ROI, USA, Gibraltar, India, Dubai and Bahrain.
Gary Craig
Gary has 21 years of experience in tax investigations and dispute resolution. Gary started his investigation career as a VAT Compliance Officer working on a range of risk-based enquiries. Gary then moved to direct taxes and completed HMRC training as an Inspector of Taxes and the Tax Specialist Programme.
During his time at HMRC, Gary completed several tax compliance roles that provide him with in-depth working knowledge of Code of Practice 9 and HMRC’s compliance processes and procedures.
The roles include:
• Working Code of Practice 8 and 9 cases as part of HMRC’s Fraud Investigation Services to deal with suspected serious fraud investigations. As a result, Gary has a proven track record working on a range of investigations from small firms to the UK’s largest companies.
• HMRC Product and Policy Owner for Business Profits representing HMRC as an expert witness at criminal and civil enquiries.
• Large Business Customer Compliance Manager working with some of the UK’s largest companies to undertake a range of complex enquiries including transfer pricing, diverted profits and a range of enquiries across corporation tax, income tax, VAT and employer duties.
• Grade 6 Operational Leader for HMRC’s Agent Compliance Team working with tax agents across the UK to undertake a range of compliance enquiries.
Gary is a skilled tax investigator and advocate leading investigations to reach a negotiated settlement and where appropriate to lead cases successfully through the Tax Tribunal process. His accessibility has been a recuring praise from the tax payers whose cases he managed.

Andrew Steward
Andrew Steward has spent the past 10 years working directly with SMEs and sole traders, helping them stay compliant, organised and confident in their tax affairs. With a decade of hands-on experience rather than formal qualifications, Andrew has built his expertise the practical way—working closely with business owners, understanding how their operations run day-to-day, and solving real tax problems with clarity and accuracy.
Andrew specialises in UK SME and sole trader tax, covering self-assessment, VAT, PAYE, corporation tax and year-end filings. He is often the first point of contact for clients who need straightforward, reliable support with their bookkeeping, submissions and HMRC requirements. His strength lies in simplifying the process, cleaning up records, identifying tax exposures and ensuring clients file correctly and on time.
Many business owners turn to Andrew when they feel overwhelmed by paperwork, behind on obligations or uncertain about their tax position. He is particularly strong with start-ups, tradespeople, small companies and owner-managed businesses who need someone they can depend on throughout the year—not just at deadlines.
Clients value Andrew for his down-to-earth approach and his ability to explain tax in practical, no-nonsense language. He doesn’t overcomplicate things; he keeps clients organised, compliant and focused on what actually matters for their business.

Cameron McClurkin
Cameron McClurkin is a tax and accounting specialist with eight years of full-time experience supporting SME and corporate clients across the UK. Holding a BSc in Economics and ACCA membership, he brings a strong technical foundation to the full spectrum of UK tax compliance and planning. His core expertise spans corporate tax, VAT, personal tax, and capital gains tax, with a particular focus on cryptocurrency, an area where many advisers still lack meaningful capability.
Cameron is known for helping clients navigate complex tax planning challenges, whether at a corporate or personal level. He has built deep experience with clients in the Insurance industry, fitness industry, and engineering-based close companies, supporting them through everything from structuring and growth planning to capital gains and crypto-related disclosures. His work often extends into higher-complexity areas, including offshore clients, voluntary disclosures, and broader HMRC-facing matters.
What sets Cameron apart is his tailored, pragmatic approach. Rather than offering generic advice or volume-driven service, he takes the time to understand each client’s commercial reality and long-term objectives. This allows him to deliver solutions that are not only technically sound but genuinely aligned with the client’s goals. Clients value his clarity, calmness under pressure, and ability to translate dense tax rules into clear, actionable guidance.

She has worked with a broad range of clients in both size and complexity, giving her the perspective to adapt quickly to different business models and operational realities.
